10-Year-Old Waterboro Resident Donates Birthday to The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital

“He was born on April 21st, 2009 via emergency C-section and did not have a very positive outlook. Nearly 10 years later, he’s thriving, smart as a whip and his compassion and desire to help others makes my heart so very proud.”

Parker Wellman of North Waterboro is an exceptional 10-year-old. After graduating from the NICU at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital (BBCH) a decade ago, Wellman wanted to give back to the hospital that provided him with lifesaving care as a newborn. That’s why this year, Wellman asked his friends and family to donate to BBCH through the My Miracle Birthday program.

In honor of his big day on April 21st, Wellman raised a remarkable $1,225. The My Miracle Birthday website platform allows donors to customize their page and easily share with friends and family via email or social media. Despite his incredible fundraising efforts so far, Wellman’s mother says that he someday hopes to donate an ambulance to the children’s hospital!

What’s even better? Our friends at Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution and P&C Insurance will be matching every dollar raised by Wellman!
