Maine’s Credit Unions Make Additional Gift to BBCH to Support Food Insecurity Initiatives

The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center is ending this week with immense gratitude for a surprising and incredibly generous $20,000 donation from Maine’s credit unions and the Maine Credit Union League.

On Tuesday, February 13th, Drs. Amy Buczkowski and Jennifer Jewell delivered the keynote address at the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger Luncheon, highlighting BBCH’s efforts to support the families in our care who are experiencing food and diaper insecurity.

At the conclusion of the Program, Drs. Buczkowski and Jewell were surprised with a $20,000 gift to support their continued work to combat hunger among our patient families. This comes after Maine’s credit unions and the MCUL came together in 2023 to make a first-ever $16,000 gift to support this work.

Congratulations to Maine’s credit unions for achieving a record-shattering $1.2 million dollars raised in 2023 to support hunger relief across our state. Thank you for all that you and your members do each year to support our neighbors in need!
