Holiday Spirit at BBCH!

We’d like to tell you about our friend Hunter who brought a huge dose of holiday spirit to BBCH this week!

Hunter is from Arundel and is nine years old. He had a short stay at BBCH when he was younger, but spent more time visiting the hospital after his friend was diagnosed with leukemia; Hunter and his mom came in to visit her about once a week.

Something you should know about Hunter is that he LOVES Christmas, and he has a very big heart. For the past two years, Hunter has used his own money to buy toys for patients at BBCH during the holidays. But after last year he wanted to do something a little different to make the holidays extra-special, and he came up with a great idea: “stuffed animals for your feet!” Really they are slippers, but Hunter knew they’d bring smiles to patients and be really useful during their hospital stays.

Hunter set out to collect donations for his slipper drive, contributing his own money to kick it off. With help from a lot of family, friends and neighbors, and a lot of hard work, our friend Hunter was able to raise an incredible $2,000 for his project! Hunter shopped for slippers and thoughtfully picked out a variety of different animal designs, and a whole range of sizes to make sure that every BBCH patient would love their new slippers.

All in all, Hunter was able to donate (drumroll, please!) 103 pairs of slippers for the patients at BBCH! What an amazing gift- thank you so much, Hunter!
