PLC of Maine Log A Load for Kids Southern Maine Golf Tournament Breaks Fundraising Record
On a beautiful (and humid!) Friday, The Professional Logging Contractors (PLC) of Maine held the annual Log A Load for Maine Kids Southern Maine Golf Tournament. Now in its third year, the generous logging community of Maine raised a record-breaking $41,696 for The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital (BBCH).
The tournament took place on August 27 at Lake Kezer Country Club in Lovell, ME. Loggers and those in the forestry industry in Maine joined together for a great day of golf all in support of the kids at BBCH, their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
Before the shotgun start, the PLC dedicated the Southern Maine Tournament in memory of Randy Keenan of PLC Supporting Member Katahdin Fire Company. Additionally, Brayden Douglass, a BBCH patient, and his family said a few words and thanked the attendees for their generous support.
“It is truly inspiring to see how the support and generosity of our PLC Members, Supporting Members, partners and friends have grown this event into a major fund raiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Maine in such a short period of time,” PLC Executive Director Dana Doran said. “These are difficult times in the logging industry, yet this group always comes through and continues to devote an incredible amount of time, effort, and resources to the Log A Load cause.”
Every dollar raised during this event will stay local to help Maine’s sick and injured children. Last year’s event raised $27,643. The PLC will continue to raise funds for Log A Load for Kids Maine during an auction at its Annual Meeting this October. Thank you to The PLC of Maine and the entire Maine Logging Community for their generous support of our hospital.
